Blagojevich’s Power Taints a Good Man, Maybe

Published by cfloud at 5:58 pm under World News Edit This

Despite efforts made by the Federal Government, and most notably against the wishes of President elect Barack Obama, Governor Blagojevich may have found a way to ruin a good man’s career. Or, he may be exposing a man who was seemingly good, but really bought his way into the senate.

Roland Burris is a former Attorney General and for the most part seems like a respected politician. However, Governor B has gone against pretty much everyone in the nation and appointed a replacement for Obama’s seat, the very same one he is accused of trying to sell. Beyond the obvious problems with this decision, including the disturbing power the Governor has to still be able to do this while being accused of selling the seat, he might be ruining Mr. Burris’s career by linking him with this drama.

It looks like Burris may have been better off without the appointment, because the Democratic leaders said they would not allow any appointment made by the Governor. So Burris may actually be a good choice, but out of principal and suspicion, he may get screwed out of a position he could very well be the perfect choice for. I hope they investigate this thoroughly, so that Burris will get the respect he deserves, or the tarnished name he deserves.
