She Made Christmas Sexy, Thanks and Farewell

Published by cfloud at 2:52 am under World News Edit This

Eartha Kitt’s naughty “Santa, Baby” trumps even Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy Birthday” for sexiest holiday/celebration jingle. Her passing came on a day when her voice would circle the steamy air around young couples passing the time on their first Christmas together, waiting for Santa to drop in on the fun. She made every Santa desire to hurry down her chimney, and even made scrooges lose their humbug. Eartha’s sultry tune will live forever on Christmas, now officially becoming legendary as she passes through the gates with a wink and a smile.

Kitt lived to be 81 years old. As a human rights activist, actor, and singer, she saw great success beyond making an old, fat, white-haired man sexy. She played Helen of Troy for Orson Welles in his staging of Doctor Faustus in 1950, and rumors say Orson had a go with Eartha during the running of this show. Perhaps she always had a thing for jolly. She put the icing on the sex kitten cake with her role as Catwoman in the Batman TV series in the 60’s.

Kitt clawed out of the cookie cutter more than once. At a concert attended by LBJ’s wife in 1968, Eartha took aim at Vietnam much to the Chagrin of Lady Bird. Lady Bird’s dissaproval was so harsh, it forced Eartha to spend some time performing in Europe. (That president after Kennedy married someone named Lady Bird…and god help me, I can’t stop picturing a little robin wearing a dress sitting on his shoulder while he’s sworn in on the plane)

No doubt Eartha Kitt will be missed, but the real question remains…was her death on Christmas sad, ironic, weird, fitting, or perfect?

Eartha, Santa misses you already, may you rest in peace.

Answer: Perfect
